In this alternate reality we find ourselves in during the time of Covid-19, many of the daily experiences that help us emotionally regulate simply don’t happen. We don’t see the same faces at work. We aren’t able to go to the gym after work. We don’t experience connection at dinner, church, or a Braves game. To respond well to this situation requires more intentionality than we normally have to expend. Which is an energy drain, is distressing, and just stinks! However, if we’re able to schedule the activities that would have previously happened organically, it will help mitigate some of the stress we’re feeling.
So make a plan for a video chat with a friend.
Carve out space for a walk or a home workout.
Consider your daily routine and make time for the activities that will comfort and fill you.
