Crystal Johnson, LPC, PMH-C

Finding the right therapist can feel like a lot, whether you’re reaching out for yourself or for your child. Many of the people who come to see me are used to holding everything together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed on the inside. Some are parents worried about their child. Some are teens trying to manage pressure, anxiety, or big emotions. Others are women who are used to being the strong one and realizing they need support too.

I work with children, teens, and adults, and I often see how connected those experiences can be. When a child is struggling, parents feel it. When a parent is stressed or burned out, kids feel that too. When I’m working with a child, I also spend time supporting parents so you feel more confident responding to what’s happening at home. The goal is not just to help in session, but to make things feel more manageable in everyday life.

With younger children, therapy may include play, drawing, and creative activities to help them express what they don’t yet have words for. With teens and adults, sessions often focus on anxiety, trauma, life transitions, identity, relationships, burnout, and the pressure that can come with high expectations. I work with many women of color and high-achieving professionals who are used to pushing through but want a space where they don’t have to.

My approach is trauma-informed and relationship-focused. I take time to understand your story and how your experiences show up in daily life, not just your symptoms. Together, we build coping skills that actually fit you, not a one-size-fits-all checklist.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Spelman College and my Master’s degree from Richmont Graduate University, where I completed additional training in trauma counseling. I am also a certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C), and I often work with women navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and the emotional demands of parenting.

There’s no perfect time to start therapy, and you don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. If you’re here, that’s a good place to begin.
